Despite the crisis, the Spanish genius continues to astound the world. A pesar de la crisis, el ingenio español sigue asombrando al mundo. Los políticos han tenido la genial idea de darle un uso práctico a todas esas probetas de laboratorios que están cerrando por falta de fondos, toda vez que cada vez hay menos científicos que las usen en nuestro país: ¡convertirlas en vasos para sangría! Con el dinero que ahorramos en vasos de plástico, tocarán a 1/4 de kilo de gambas (por consejero delegado). ¡Simplemente genial!
A few days ago, in the Mayor street, Madrid, in the morning, I saw a homeless man near a pedestrian crossing, whose shoes were a Burger King bag on one foot and one of the El Corte Inglés in the other. It was sad, but I found a signal on it or, rather, a sign. A sign of our times.
Hace unos días, en la calle Mayor de Madrid, por la mañana, vi a un sin techo junto a un paso de cebra cuyos zapatos eran una bolsa de Burguer King en un pie y otra de El Corte Inglés en el otro. Además de triste, me pareció una señal o, más bien, un signo. Un signo de nuestro tiempo.

What I have wanted to get the hell out of these people of the 15M that demand real democracy and take their little banners and then all citizens can restart looking at the wonderful giant billboards that multinationals remain, for months, on the front of the buildings of the Puerta del Sol!
¡Qué ganas tengo de que se larguen estos del 15 M que reclaman democracia real y se lleven su pancartitas para que la gente empiece a mirar otra vez las maravillosas vallas publicitarias gigantes que las multinacionales mantienen, durante meses, en las fachadas de la Puerta del Sol!

Another early morning and on my way to the subway I thought I saw a tree pissing. «Look a little revenge of nature against the man who intends to submit.» Then, closer, I realized that it was just a loose hose on the irrigation system that, at the foot of the tree trunk, water the soil. A real shame, because a peeing tree can be useful against annoying dogs. And I am not referring to the quadrupeds.
Otra mañana muy temprano y en mi camino hacia el metro he creído ver un árbol meando. «Mira, una pequeña venganza de la naturaleza contra el hombre que pretende someterla». Luego, al acercarme más, me he dado cuenta de que tan sólo se trataba de un manguito suelto en el riego automático que, al pie del tronco del árbol, riega el suelo. Una verdadera lástima, porque un árbol que mea puede ser útil contra los molestos perros. Y no me refiero a los cuadrúpedos.
